Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of cotswoldstourism.org. Reading the site means accepting them. They are written to be understood rather than to be impressive.

Last updated: 9 September 2026.

What this site is

Cotswolds Tourism publishes independent editorial guides to visiting the Cotswolds. It is not a travel agency, a tour operator, a ticket reseller or an accommodation provider. It takes no bookings, holds no money and enters into no contract with you about a trip. Anything you book after reading a guide is a matter between you and whoever you booked it with, on their terms.

Accuracy, and the limits of it

Guides are researched carefully and checked against primary sources, but the Cotswolds do not hold still. Pubs change hands and close for the winter. Car parks change their charges or go cashless. National Trust and English Heritage properties revise their opening seasons. Bus services are reduced, and Sunday timetables are thinner than anyone expects. Every figure on this site is correct as far as I know on the date shown on the guide, and no guarantee beyond that is possible.

Confirm anything that matters — a last admission, a market day, a table, a timed ticket — with the operator before you rely on it.

Not professional advice

Nothing here is legal, medical, financial or insurance advice. Notes about travel, driving, access rights or the weather are general background written for a broad readership, and your circumstances may differ. For anything with real consequences, ask someone qualified.

Walking, driving and your own judgement

Much of what this site describes happens outdoors and carries ordinary risk. The Cotswold Way and the wider footpath network cross working farmland with livestock, stiles and mud; the escarpment is steeper and more exposed than the word “gentle” suggests; rivers and fords rise after rain; and the lanes between villages are single-track, unlit and shared with tractors and cyclists. You are responsible for your own decisions, your own fitness, your own footwear and your own driving. Check the forecast, tell someone where you are going, and turn back when the sensible thing is to turn back.

Some links on this site are affiliate links, including accommodation links served through Stay22. If you book after following one, Cotswolds Tourism may receive a commission from the booking provider. You pay no more than you would going direct, and a commission never buys coverage, a recommendation or a position in a ranking.

This does not change what is written above: the site still takes no bookings, holds no money and is not a party to anything you buy. A commission is paid by the booking provider out of its own margin, after the fact, and gives me no role in your reservation and no ability to help if it goes wrong. Prices, availability and cancellation terms are the provider’s, not mine.

Guides link to third-party sites — property owners, transport operators, councils and individual businesses — so you can check things at source. Those sites are not under my control, and a link is not an endorsement of their content, their terms or their prices.

The writing on this site belongs to Cotswolds Tourism. You are welcome to quote a short passage with a link back. Republishing whole guides, or feeding them wholesale into another product, is not permitted without written permission. Photographs are used under the licences of their respective sources, and those licences travel with the image rather than with this site.

Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site, scrape it wholesale, or use it for anything unlawful. Automated collection of the content for reuse elsewhere is not permitted.

Liability

The site is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for loss arising from your use of it — a closed attraction, a price that had gone up, a walk that took longer than planned. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, because the law does not allow that to be limited.

Changes and governing law

These terms are revised when the site changes, and the current version is always the one on this page. They are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions about them go through the contact page.
